The taco — colourful, generous and slightly chaotic — is a food meant to enjoy fast and without too much seriousness. It’s messy, unpredictable, and perhaps not the most obvious choice for a first date… or maybe exactly the right one?

By painting the subject again and again (ten times that is), the taco shifts from fastfood to image. What would normally disappear in a few bites is slowed down and examined with attention. The taco is isolated and enlarged into a small monument: a tortilla overflowing with ingredients, balancing between still life and pop culture.
